Arlington Picks New Location For Tribute To Martin Luther King Jr.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County's 2023 tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday has been moved from Wakefield High School to Washington-Liberty High School’s auditorium, the county said Friday.

The county said it changed the location for Sunday’s event due to an unanticipated maintenance issue at Wakefield High School.

The event, free and open to the public, will start at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Washington-Liberty High School is located at 1301 N. Stafford Street in Arlington.

Parking will be available in the parking deck on N. Stafford Street by entering through door 5.

This year’s event will focus on King’s visit to Arlington before the March on Washington in 1963. Encore Stage & Studio in Cherrydale, under the direction of Madaline Y. Langston, will produce the program.

Residents who cannot attend the event in person can watch a livestream of the event on the county’s YouTube page.
