Maryland Man Faces Charges In Bank Robbery On Columbia Pike

Arlington County police charged a Maryland man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on Columbia Pike Tuesday morning.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington police charged a Maryland man in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on Columbia Pike Tuesday morning.

Jaquan Deandre Malik Royal, 27, of Prince George’s County, Maryland, was taken into custody Wednesday in Fairfax County. The charges in Arlington County are for bank robbery and armed robbery, police said.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police were dispatched to the bank in the 3400 block of Columbia Pike for a report of an armed robbery.

Police learned that the suspect handed a bank teller a note, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and got into a blue sedan, police said.

No weapon was seen or displayed, and no injuries were reported, according to police.
