Blustery Weekend Ahead Before Wintry Cold Returns To NoVA
Windy conditions are expected early this weekend before an incoming cold front brings bitter temperatures back to the DC-NoVA region.
VIRGINIA — Mild and blustery conditions will lead Northern Virginia into the weekend before temperatures plummet and wintry cold returns to the region, according to the latest forecasts.
Sunshine will be plentiful Friday but temperatures will be a bit cooler with highs in the mid-50s. Expect breezy conditions with gusts reaching 20 mph before winds diminish in the afternoon before Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, mild temperatures will linger into Saturday as highs reach the 50s to 60s in the early afternoon ahead of an incoming cold front. Increasing pressure will result in breezy conditions by late morning before winds increase in the afternoon with gusts likely reaching 25 to 35 mph.

Temperatures are expected to plummet Saturday evening into Saturday night as a mass of cold air settles across the region. Lows will bottom out in the teens to mid-20s with wind chills in the single digits to mid-teens.
Cold and brisk conditions will linger on Sunday as highs struggle to reach the upper 30s to
low 40s. On Sunday night, lows will drop a bit more with temperatures in the mid to upper teens and low to mid-20s along and east of Interstate 95.

Temperatures will increase slightly on Monday before returning to near-60-degree highs on Tuesday and near-70 degrees on Wednesday, according to The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
"Tuesday’s breezes may turn into windier conditions Wednesday. A few showers Tuesday may turn into steadier rain and storms on Wednesday — a couple strong storms cannot be ruled out," the Capital Weather Gang wrote.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. South wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57. Southwest wind 9 to 18 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Northwest wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 24.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 44.
Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.
