Washington Capitals Player Arrested Over Weekend Following Fight, Hit With Pepper Spray
A member of the Washington Capitals hockey team was arrested early Saturday morning in Clarendon by Arlington County Police.

ARLINGTON, VA — Washington Capitals defenseman Alex Alexeyev, 25, was arrested early Saturday morning in Clarendon and charged with public intoxication, according to Arlington County Police.
Officers on patrol around 3:36 a.m. were flagged down by a witness who told them there was a fight taking place outside a business in the 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard, according to police.
Arriving on the scene, the officers observed Alexeyev involved in a fight with another man. After seeing the NHL star assault the other man, one officer deployed pepper spray as they took him into custody, according to police.

Alexeyev was arrested and booked at the Arlington County Detention Facility and subsequently released, according to police.
“We are aware of the situation involving Alexander Alexeyev and in the process of gathering additional information,” a Capitals spokesman told Patch.

At approximately 3:26 a.m. on May 17, officers on patrol in the 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard were flagged down by a witness who reported an active fight outside of a business. Officers subsequently observed the male suspect involved in a physical altercation with the male subject. As officers approached, the male suspect assaulted the male subject, and one officer deployed pepper spray as he was taken into custody. The suspect was treated on scene by medics for pepper spray exposure. Aleksandr Alekseev, 25, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
