ARLINGTON, VA -- A man has been arrested after police say he was caught stealing items from an Arlington church.

Police were called to the 600 block of N. Irving Street at around 11:48 p.m. on April 20 to a report of a burglary in progress, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"[T]he property manager was alerted to the presence of a known male suspect who had gained entry to a church," the report states. "Arriving officers located the suspect exiting the building in possession of items allegedly stolen from inside. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had entered the building unlawfully on multiple prior occasions."

Police charged 56-year-old William Barker with two counts of burglary and two counts of trespassing.
