Customer Spooks Armed Robber In Arlington: Police

A man came into a business on 23rd Street brandishing a knife, but he fled with nothing, police say.

ARLINGTON, VA -- A customer stopped an armed robbery in progress at a business in Arlington over the weekend after spooking the robber, police say.

Police were called to the 400 block of 23rd Street S at around 8:51 p.m. on Feb. 10 to a report of an armed robbery, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

Police say a man entered the business and approached an employee behind the counter, brandishing a knife.

"The suspect demanded cash, however, another customer entered the business, prompting the suspect to flee on foot prior to police arrival," the report states. "Nothing was reported stolen from the business and no injuries were reported."

Police described the suspect as follows: "a tall, slender, black male, wearing light washed blue jeans, black shoes, a black jacket with a black hoodie underneath, and carrying a backpack."
