DC Man Faces Robbery Charge For Burglary At Barcroft-Area Bank: ACPD
Arlington County Police arrested a District man who they say was responsible for robbing a bank in the Barcroft area on Tuesday.
ARLINGTON, VA — A 30-year-old Washington, D.C., man faces a robbery charge in connection with the burglary of a bank in the Barcroft area on Tuesday morning, according to Arlington County Police.
Officers responded around 11:18 a.m. to a robbery by force in progress at a bank in the 900 block of South George Mason Drive. A man entered the bank, passed a note demanding money to a teller, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
After a lookout was broadcast, police began searching the area and located the suspect inside a neighboring business. He was taken into custody without incident, police say. The cash from the robbery was recovered.

Steve Smith of Washington, D.C., was charged with robbery by threat and held without bond, according to the incident report.
Smith was arraigned in Arlington General District Court on Wednesday morning and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 4, according to court records. The robbery with threat charge is a class 6 felony under Virginia law.

“For Class 6 felonies, a term of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than five years, or in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both,” according to the Code of Virginia.
