'Drone Activity' Prompts Ground Stop At Reagan National Airport
The ground stop affected both arriving and departing flights at the Washington, D.C.-area airport.
ARLINGTON, VA — Authorities on Thursday issued a ground stop at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport after "drone activity" was reported near a runway, according to a notice from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Airport staff confirmed the activity in a tweet. The ground stop affected both arriving and departing flights.
"We are aware of reports of a drone sighting around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 21," airport officials tweeted. "Please check with your airline for potential effects on flight schedules.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the FAA said operations had resumed at Reagan National Airport after the unauthorized drone stopped arrivals and departures, CNN reported. Some residual delays from the ground stop should be expected by travelers, the FAA said.
