This Eatery Serves Up VA's Best Slice Of Pizza, Food Network Says
This VA restaurant's pizza sliced through the competition, according to a list highlighting each state's top pie.
ARLINGTON, VA — The verdict is in: An eatery with multiple Northern Virginia and D.C. locations is serving up the best slice of pizza in Virginia, according to a new list compiled by Food Network.
Wiseguy Pizza was recently featured on Food Network's 50 Best Pizza Slices By State 2025.
The ranking recognizes one pizzeria from each state, and ranges in slice styles from thin and crispy New York-style to the deep-dish and square-cut varieties.

When it comes to creating an authentic New York-style slice, Tony Nuri Erol of Wiseguy Pizza believes it all starts with the water.
"Before adding it to his dough, Erol filters the local Arlington water to mimic the famous liquid flowing through New York City’s taps," Food Network wrote. "His pizza-making process also entails fermenting and proofing the dough for at least 24 hours."

His attention to detail doesn't stop there. Erol has traveled to New York, New Jersey and even Italy to explore different methods for pizza preparation.
"Erol uses hand-pulled mozzarella that is stretched on-site every day," Food Network wrote. "The resulting pizza contains all the qualities of NYC’s best pies: lightly charred slices that are crisp and thin yet still firm enough to fold over."
Hungry customers who visit Wiseguys Pizza also agree that their pizza is a hit.
"The DC area used to be a barren wasteland of bad pizza when I was here for college in the mid to late 1990s. When I came back to the area in the 2010s, it got much better," one person wrote. "One of the better places to get a slice of pizza is Wiseguy Pizza."
"A small but mighty pizza place that has never let me down. One of my absolute favorites in the area!" another wrote.
