Friday Ripe For Another Winter Storm In NoVA: Forecasters
Virginia is still feeling the effects of Monday's winter storm, and forecasters say Friday is ripe for another snowstorm with frigid winds.

VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia is still feeling the effects of Monday’s winter storm, and forecasters are saying Friday is ripe for another storm that will snarl roads with snow and ice, plus overnight lows in the teens through the weekend.
Residents can expect a wind chill in the single digits and teens for most of Wednesday as residents continue to shovel their sidewalks and remove the snow from their cars. School systems in Northern Virginia are either operating under a delayed opening or closed again on Wednesday due to dangerously icy road conditions.
But Mother Nature isn’t throwing in the towel on winter weather in the D.C. area just yet. After temperatures rise to the mid-30s on Thursday, another round of snow is likely.

The region could see between 2 and 4 inches of snow on Friday, although meteorologists say they’re still waiting to firm up their forecasts for Friday’s snowstorm.
"Snow could arrive late at night, possibly snowing into at least Friday afternoon if the storm comes together as some models suggest," the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang reported Wednesday morning. "Doesn’t look like a big one, but could be a 1-to-3-inch or 2-to-4-inch type of storm. That’s not a firm forecast, just meant to give you an idea of the potential."
NBC4 reported Wednesday that it will be cold enough in the D.C. area on Friday for this to be almost entirely a snow event. Most areas in the region will see between 0.5 and to 2 inches of snow, NBC4 meteorologists said.
As for the cold temperatures, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., with wind chill values reaching zero to 5 above zero late Wednesday night. Dangerously cold wind chills are possible again Saturday night.
"Wind chills will be near 0 degrees on Saturday morning and will remain near 10 degrees all Saturday afternoon," NBC4 reported. "Sunday will not be much better, but at least there will be more sunshine, with highs getting close to 30 degrees."
Looking ahead to next week, temperatures are expected to gradually warm up starting on Tuesday, with highs climbing into the 50s later in the week. A possible mid- to late-week storm is possible next week, probably in the form of rain, the Capital Weather Gang said.
