Flights Resuming After Ground Stop Issued At Reagan Airport
The FAA said the stop at Reagan Airport was put in place shortly before 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday.
ARLINGTON, VA — Flights are resuming at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport after a security incident prompted a ground stop on Tuesday.
According to airport officials, United Airlines flight 512 landed at Reagan around 11:30 a.m. and then stopped on an adjacent runway away from the terminal in response to a security threat. Officials said airport runways remained closed until passengers were offloaded and bused to the terminal.
Runways reopened at 12:50 p.m., according to the airport. The Federal Aviation Administration said the stop was put in place shortly before 11:20 a.m.

Video obtained by NBC Washington showed passengers leaving the plane and walking across the tarmac, where buses appeared to be waiting. Multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen near the buses.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police are investigating with the assistance of multiple law enforcement partners.

Several flights were diverted to other airports during the runway closure, officials said.
