How To Get Rid Of Christmas Trees In Arlington In 2023
If you have a live Christmas tree, collections are coming up for Arlington residents.

ARLINGTON, VA — As Christmas comes and goes, residents will need to get rid of their live Christmas trees in the coming days. Christmas tree recycling will be provided in the coming days by Arlington County.
When your Christmas tree needs to go out on the curb depends on when you got it, what condition it's in, and whether it was properly watered.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, trees that dry out can pose a fire hazard. The association recommends residents do not leave dried out trees inside homes or garages, or placed against the home outside.

From Jan. 2 through Jan. 13, 2023, Arlington residents should place trees at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on their regular trash collection day after removing all decorations, nails and stands. Christmas trees should not be placed in plastic bags, the county said.
After Jan. 13, Christmas trees are handled at curbside as part of regular year-round yard waste collection. Residents should make sure the tree is bare and ready for composting. Trees more than 8-feet long will need to be dismantled.

Residents without regular curbside pickup, including those living in town homes, apartments and condominiums, can bring Christmas trees to the Solid Waste Bureau’s Earth Products Yard in Shirlington.
For safe dropoff, residents should call 703-228-5000, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to schedule a weekday appointment. Residents will need proof of residence in Arlington to drop off a Christmas tree.
