Last October, the Arlington County Police Department announced that the driver who crashed into Ireland’s Four Courts will not face charges. Because its investigation concluded the driver of the ride-share vehicle “experienced a medical emergency prior to the crash,” no charges will be brought against the driver.
“Following consultation with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, criminal charges will not be sought against the driver,” police said last October.

The ride-share driver was driving north on N. Courthouse Road in Arlington on Aug. 12, when he crashed directly into the front of Ireland’s Four Courts during a Friday happy hour.
Shortly after the crash, his vehicle caught fire, causing a fire within the restaurant. Numerous injuries were reported on the scene. Nine patients were transported to area hospitals, according to police.
Customers and other restaurants and bars in the area have held fundraisers over the past several months to help the staff of Ireland’s Four Courts and the rebuilding effort.
