Lego Discovery Center DC Opens At Springfield Town Center

Lego Discovery Center D.C., an interactive indoor Lego playground at Springfield Town Center, officially opened on Thursday.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Lego Discovery Center D.C., an interactive indoor Lego playground at Springfield Town Center, officially opened on Thursday after a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday.

The center, located on one level adjacent to Springfield Town Center's Grand Court, is the D.C. area's first Lego attraction and is a version of the Lego Group's Legoland attractions. There are 14 Legoland locations in the U.S.

Lego Group owns the attractions in partnership with U.K.-based Merlin, which also owns Madame Tussauds and other attractions.

At the new Lego Discovery Center in Springfield, visitors will have a chance to experience a 4D cinema, Space Mission, the LEGO Tree of Imagination, and the Imagination Express train. Children can visit DUPLO Park zone, where they can create their own custom mini figures.

The 32,000-square-foot attraction, at 6563 Springfield Mall, Suite 12004, is designed for children ages 2 through 12 and features 12 zones for kids to experience.

Regular admission tickets cost $28.99 per person and the center is sold out through Sunday, Aug. 13, according to the Lego Discovery Center D.C. website. The attraction will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

With its expected popularity, the public is encouraged to purchase tickets beforehand to guarantee admission.
