Machete Found At DC Airport Checkpoint Carves Out A Spot On TSA's Top 10 Catches List
A machete confiscated in March by TSA agents at a Reagan National Airport checkpoint was one of the Top 10 Catches of 2021.

ARLINGTON, VA — The morning after the 2022 Golden Globes Awards ceremony, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced its own "best of" list. Rather than last year's best movies or television programs, the TSA unveiled its Top 10 Catches of 2021.
A Washington, D.C. airport made TSA's list, which highlights the most unusual items officers confiscated at airport checkpoints across the country.
On March 6, 2021, TSA officers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) stopped a traveler carrying a well-worn, heavy-duty, wooden-handled machete. Officers noted the blade showed significant wear, as if it had seen a lot of use. The large knife was confiscated along with some ammunition and a canister of flammable butane fuel.
