ARLINGTON, VA -- Two women are facing assault charges after police say they attacked a woman who was arguing with a man.

Police were called to the 2400 block of 24th Road S at around 5:18 p.m. on March 10 to a report of a "trouble unknown" and found a chaotic scene, according to a report from the Arlington County Police Department.

"[A] verbal dispute between a known male and the female victim escalated and became physical when two female suspects and an additional female arrived at the residence out of concern for the male," the report states. "A physical altercation ensued and the two suspects assaulted the female victim. A second female attempted to intervene, but the suspects assaulted her and the second suspect grabbed her, causing her to stop breathing briefly."

The second suspect fled before police arrived, but officers were able to contact her via phone, police say.

Two female victims were sent to the hospital with minor injuries. Police charged Destiny Gaskins with two counts of assault by mob and 47-year-old Nellie Gaskins of D.C. with two counts of assault by mob and strangulation.
