Matchbox American Kitchen Opens in Pentagon City Thursday
In celebration of new locations, the company will introduce new menu items and even a exclusive, proprietary wine.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Wine lovers and fans of the eclectic D.C.-based matchboxfoodgroup are in for a special treat Thursday evening as a brand-new location opens its doors for the first time at 5 p.m. in Pentagon City.
A sprawling, 12,000-square-foot "matchbox American Kitchen and Spirit" restaurant will open in Fashion Centre, 1100 S. Hayes St., promptly at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Company reps say the gleaming, open-concept dining room is spread out over two levels, with an elevated outdoor dining terrace and prominently featured wood-fired masonry ovens, with decor that features stylish reclaimed materials.

In celebration of several new locations across Virginia, matchboxfoodgroup will be rolling out new menu items and even a new signature, proprietary white wine blend developed with renowned California winemaker Jed Steele.
The new menu offerings will include
a
number of new sandwiches, entrees and salads. The restaurant’s all-day
menu will include two grinders, each served on stuffed and baked
wood-fired pizza dough, with flavors such as Italianwith salami, prosciutto, and capicola or meatball. The sandwichesjoin a new fried chicken cobb andseared salmon salad, as well as chicken and walnut pesto fettuccine. But don't worry--longtime favorites like mini burgers and artisanal pizzas will remain in the menu, they say.
