MD Man Arrested On Robbery Charge At Pentagon City Store: Police

A Maryland man was arrested Sunday on charges of robbery after a struggle over electronics at a store in Pentagon City, police said.

ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man was arrested Sunday afternoon on charges of robbery after a struggle over a shopping cart with electronic devices at a store in Pentagon City, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Malcolm Land, 38, of Pikesville, Maryland, was arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny with intent to sell, police said. He was held in jail on no bond. Another suspect was able to leave the scene with stolen merchandise from the store, according to police.

At about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of S. Fern Street in Arlington for a report of a shoplifting in progress. In their investigation, police found out that two male suspects entered the business, selected the electronics and tried to exit the store without paying for the merchandise.

An employee confronted the suspects, but one of the suspects was able to leave the business with the stolen electronics and flee the scene in a white truck, police said.

The other suspect, Land, was detained by loss prevention employees and then arrested, according to police.

The suspect who fled the scene with the stolen merchandise was described as a Black male, wearing a dark color jacket, white face mask, and black beanie, police said.
