ARLINGTON, VA -- Firefighters freed seven people trapped in an elevator at the Crystal City Metro station Wednesday morning, according to a report.

ARLnow tweeted at 9:51 a.m. that around a "half a dozen people" were inside the elevator, citing scanner traffic, and that Arlington County firefighters were on their way to free them.

"At 9:45 am units from Arlington County and Alexandria Fire Departments were dispatched to the 1700 block of South Clark Street for a report of people stuck in an elevator," Benjamin O'Bryant, public information officer for the Arlington County Fire Department, told Patch. "Crews arrived on scene and worked with an elevator mechanic to free the 7 people who were stuck inside. There were no reports of any medical issues, and crews were back in service by 10:20 am."
