4 Suspects Arrested In Stairwell Assault, Ballston Shooting That Caused School Lockdown
Arlington County detectives uncovered evidence connecting an assault in a stairwell on Tuesday to a shooting in Ballston on the next day.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested four suspects in connection to two incidents involving the same victim, one of which prompted the lockdown of two schools in the Ballston area on Wednesday.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday, around 12:09 p.m. Officers responded to the robbery by force in the 600 block of North Glebe Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man was assaulted by two other men in a parking lot stairwell. The suspects stole clothing items from the victim and they then fled the area on foot, according to the incident report.
Through their investigation, police identified 18-year-old Kevin Flores Moya of Arlington and other two male teens as suspects in the case. They were later arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit felony and assault by mob, according to police.

On Wednesday, officers were dispatched around 9:12 a.m. to the area of North Carlin Springs Road and North Glebe Road, after receiving multiple reports of a shot being heard. No injuries were reported.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim in Tuesday’s attack was walking in the area when a firearm was discharged from a vehicle that then fled the area, according to police. Investigators identified another male teen as the suspect in the shooting incident. He was later arrested and police obtained petitions for the teen for attempted aggravated malicious wounding, shooting from a vehicle and discharging a firearm in a public place.

Out of an abundance of caution, Washington-Liberty High School and Barrett Elementary School were placed on Secure-the-Building Status while police investigated the incident on Wednesday. That status was lifted around 12 p.m.
After executing search warrants early Thursday morning in the 100 block of North Thomas Street, detectives recovered evidence that linked both Tuesday's assault and Wednesday's shooting, according to police.
