October 29, 2025 | Local families gathered on Wednesday night for a one of a kind Halloween Open Mic hosted by Piano and More at Westover Beer Garden. This was the first themed open mic that required students and students' family and friends to come in costume and offered face painting for all performers and families. The result was a joyful mix of music, community, and spooky fall fun.

Young musicians arrived dressed as spooky and imaginative characters that lit up the stage. Before performing, students visited the face painting station where they chose designs like rabbit, snake, and other character favorites. The festive spirit helped even the most nervous performers step into the spotlight with confidence.

The mix of costumes and painted faces created a playful atmosphere that helped performers feel excited and brave.

Throughout the evening, parents, siblings, teachers, and even neighbors who happened to be walking by gathered to cheer for each performer. Students played piano, sang, shared simple melodies, and showcased pieces they had been practicing at home. The atmosphere was supportive, relaxed, and filled with encouragement for every child who took a turn.

Piano and More

Nicole Kovar, Founder and Executive Director of Piano and More, shared that the goal of the event was to create a welcoming place for students and children to practice performing without pressure.

The Halloween Open Mic ran from 6 to 8 PM and quickly became a community highlight for families in Arlington. Westover Beer Garden provided an inviting outdoor space where children could perform under the fall sky while parents enjoyed the evening with food, laughter, and conversation.

Piano and More plans to host more community events throughout the year to help young musicians build confidence, connect with others, and celebrate their progress.
