Suspected Aggressor Killed In Ashton Heights Stabbing ID'd By Police

ARLINGTON, VA — Jonathan Alexander Diaz Chavez 32, of an undetermined address, was identified by Arlington County police as the man who died of stab wounds Friday night in the Ashton Heights neighborhood.

Police said on Saturday that they believed Diaz Chavez, who suffered multiple sharp-forced injuries, was the primary aggressor in the incident that led to his death. The Office of the Chief Medical Office will determine the cause and manner of his death.

"One of the hospitalized subjects has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery," according to police. "The second subject remains hospitalized and is in stable condition."

On Wednesday, officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. for the report of an assault with injury in the 200 block of North Glebe Road. Arriving on the scene, officers found two men outside a business suffering from lacerations, according to the incident report. The officers began rendering aid.

Searching the area, police found another man, who was dead, inside the business, according to police. The two people injured outside were taken to the hospital to be treated for-threatening injuries. One remains in stable condition, but the other is in critical but stable condition.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed the decedent initiated the assault and was the primary aggressor," police said, on Saturday. "There is not believed to be any outstanding subjects related to this incident. During the course of the investigation, several knives were recovered."
