Replica Firearm Results In Weapons Charge For DC Woman: Police

Arlington County Police arrested a D.C. woman Thursday morning in Rosslyn for displaying a firearm that later turned out to be a replica.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 19-year-old Washington, D.C. woman faces the possibility of a jail sentence after Arlington County Police arrested her for displaying a firearm that turned out to be fake outside a Rosslyn business on Thursday.

Officers responded around 11:19 a.m. to the 1700 block of North Moore Street for the report of a person with a gun. The officers took a District woman into custody after they had determined she had brandished a firearm outside a business, according to ACPD.

During the arrest, the officers found that the firearm was a replica and that the woman also was in possession of a knife, according to police. ACPD charged Jamie Hale of D.C. with brandishing and disorderly conduct.

On Monday morning, Hale appeared in Arlington General District Court for a bond hearing, according to court records. She has a hearing scheduled for May 8 to face both the disorderly conduct and brandishing charges, which are class 1 misdemeanors.

A person convicted of a class 1 misdemeanor faces a possible fine of up to $2,500 and/or a jail sentence up to 12 months, according to the Code of Virginia.
