ARLINGTON, VA — Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café will be opening later this winter in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington, the bakery’s first location in Northern Virginia. The bakery has four locations in Maryland.

Roggenart, which means “the art of rye” in German, will have a menu that features a mix of artisan breakfast sandwiches atop buttery croissants, omelets, oven baked melts, cast iron pressed sandwiches, and other dishes.

The bakery will have a variety of goods baked fresh daily, including the bacon and gruyere swirl featuring sauteed bacon and gruyere cheese rolled into croissant dough and topped with additional gruyere cheese, as well as fluffy Danishes filled with sweet cheese.

The new location at 4401 Wilson Blvd., a short walk from the Ballston-MU metro station, will offer the perfect detour on the way to work for a quick cup of coffee or a bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant, Roggenart said. Roggenart’s Arlington location will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
