2 Schools Reopen After Lockdown Due To Police Investigation

Two Arlington schools were placed on lockdown for about two hours on Wednesday, while police investigated a possible shooting nearby.

ARLINGTON, VA — Two Arlington County Schools were placed on lockdown for about two hours on Wednesday morning as police investigated the report of shots being heard in the Ballston area, according to authorities.

Out of an abundance of caution, Washington-Liberty High School and Barrett Elementary School were placed on Secure-the-Building Status, according to Arlington County Police. That status was lifted around 12 p.m., according to police.

Officers were investigating the report of shots being heard in the North Carlin Springs Road and North Glebe Road area. No injuries were reported and no evidence of shots being fired were
