Teen Demonstrates Kindness, Service To Others: Potomac Star Student

POTOMAC, MD — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Arthur Ekrem, who nominated his son William of Potomac. Kindness and service to others come naturally to William, his father says. He is also a strong student, with attendance at a top academic university in his future.

Advanced honors in all subjects and a year ahead academically. Will fast track and obtain an AA degree along with his high school diploma concurrently. Active in civic duties, church, works as a lifeguard and formally trained. On track for a college career at MIT or Princeton. William is currently a freshman in high school.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Kindness and service to others come naturally to him. He always makes the next right decision, and has a strong independent streak, which allows him to excel.
