Thanksgiving Storm: Latest On Travel Forecast For VA
Mostly clear skies across NoVA and DC through Tuesday, but rain will move in late Wednesday, making for a "damp and dreary" Thanksgiving.
VIRGINIA — While Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly clear in Northern Virginia and in D.C., rain is expected to roll in after 1. a.m on Thursday, making for a wet Thanksgiving and poor travel conditions, according to the latest forecast.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with temperatures dropping to the low 50s. The good news is that Wednesday, which is also the busiest travel day of the year, will be dry, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain will cover Virginia on Wednesday overnight into Thursday, likely after 1 a.m., the National Weather Service said.

"Overall, a damp and dreary day is in the cards with rain, occasionally becoming heavy at times," the National Weather Service said of Thanksgiving.
AccuWeather meteorologists forecast rain to fall along and south of the Ohio River and the southern Appalachians from late Wednesday to Thursday and soak much of the I-95 corridor of the mid-Atlantic and central and southern New England from Thursday to Thursday night.

This will usher in a dry, but cold and windy, Black Friday into the weekend.
Here's the latest Northern Virginia forecast from the National Weather Service:
Tuesday: Sunny, with a temperature falling to around 53 by 5 pm. Breezy, with a northwest wind 13 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 33. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
Wednesday: On the big travel day, expect increasing clouds, with a high near 54. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Rain will roll in overnight, mainly after 1 am. Patchy fog after 4 am. Low around 41. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thanksgiving: Rain, mainly before 1pm. Patchy fog before 3pm. High near 52. Southeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 35.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48 during the day with mostly clear skies in the evening and a low around 25. Friday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 27.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 40. That night look for partly cloudy skies, with a low around 27.
