Threats Cause Increased Police Presence At Arlington Schools

Social media threats made to a middle school and high school in Arlington prompted extra police presence at the schools.

ARLINGTON, VA — Social media threats made to a middle school and high school in Arlington prompted extra police presence at the schools Friday, Arlington County Police announced.

The threats were made to Williamsburg Middle School at 3600 N Harrison St. and Yorktown High School at 5200 Yorktown Blvd.

Although the threats were deemed not credible, there will be extra police presence at the schools as a precaution.

"Police immediately began investigating these posts and at this time have determined there are no credible threats to the safety of the school, students or staff," police said.

Police were made aware of the threats Thursday evening.
