Top 10 Private High Schools In VA Revealed In New Ranking

The Veritas Collegiate Academy in Arlington is the best private high school in Virginia, according to a new ranking from Niche.

For the 2026 Best Private High Schools in America ranking released Monday, Niche evaluated 30,000 private schools on measures such as test scores, academic performance and input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.

Behind the Veritas Collegiate Academy, which placed 58th nationally, these are the top 10 private schools in Virginia:

No. 2: The Madeira School, McLean
No. 3: Ideaventions Academy for Math and Science, Reston
No. 4: Pinnacle Academy, Chantilly
No. 5: The Potomac School, McLean
No. 6: BASIS Independent McLean, McLean
No. 7: Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest
No. 8: Veritas Collegiate Academy, Chesapeake
No. 9: Episcopal High School, Alexandria
No. 10: St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School, Alexandria

Niche also evaluated the nation’s 93,000 public schools in the rankings.

Niche said its ranking of the 2026 Best Public High Schools in America, now in the 11th year, differs from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
