Metro's Yellow Line Service To Reopen In May After Long Shutdown

Metro plans to restart Yellow Line service in May after completing rehabilitation work on the tunnel and bridge between the Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza stations, Metro said Tuesday. Following eight months of construction, customers will be able to use the Yellow Line across the Potomac River between Virginia and the District of Columbia. The reopening of the Yellow Line will reduce travel times by as much as 15 minutes when service resumes on May 7.

Libraries Hold 'Read and Feed' Drive To Address Hunger In Fairfax Co.

Fairfax County Public Library is holding its “Read and Feed” food drive in April, with customers asked to drop off food items at any library branch in the county. Food donations received at the library branches will go to Food for Others, a nonprofit food bank, for distribution across Fairfax County.

Hero Marines Prevent Stabbing During Chick-Fil-A Robbery: Police

Three Marines are being hailed as heroes after they prevented a stabbing during a robbery at a Stafford County Chick-Fil-A on Saturday. One of the Marines broke the suspect's knife in half, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said. The victim was not stabbed during the assault, authorities said.

Alexandria Man's Hunch Ends Up Multiplying His VA Lottery Win To $100K

An Alexandria man's decision to play the same four numbers 20 times in the Virginia Lottery's nighttime Pick 4 drawing on March 8 turned out to be a good one, especially when they turned out to be winning numbers. Since Hirpo played the same number 20 times, he multiplied his total winnings, turning $5,000 into $100,000.

Third Annual Tour De Hunter Mill Bicycle Ride Returns to Reston In May

Registration is underway for the Third Annual Tour de Hunter Mill bicycle ride on May 7, which will give bicyclists of all ages and abilities a chance to explore the district by bike. All three routes will begin and end at the Reston Community Center at Hunters Woods, which is located at 2310 Colts Neck Road. The long and short rides include a pit stop at Frying Pan Farm Park.
