Vehicle Plunges Into Potomac River, Disappears: Rescuers
After a witness reported a car plunging into the Potomac River near Roosevelt Island on Sunday, rescuers failed to find it.

ARLINGTON, VA -- A vehicle plunged into the Potomac River on Sunday night, and despite rescuers' efforts, they were never able to find it.
D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted at 10 p.m. that a water search was underway near the Roosevelt Island parking lot on the Virginia side of the river after a witness reported a car went into the water and was currently not visible.
Shortly after, D.C. Fire and EMS confirmed that there was a vehicle in the water, but were unable to locate it despite having a helicopter, boats, and divers on the scene.

At 12:41 a.m., D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted that they were clearing the scene with the exception of Fireboats 2 and 3 supporting dive operations. "A vehicle has not yet been located," they said.
