Whole Raw Beef Carcass Stored For Friend At Arlington Restaurant
A health inspector reported finding a whole beef carcass meant for a private friend being stored in a restaurant's walk-in refrigerator.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Public Health Department inspectors found health code violations at 14 of the 27 food establishments they reported visiting July 9-11.
On July 10, a health inspector reported finding a whole raw beef carcass being kept between 56-63F in the walk-in refrigerator at Meda Restaurant and Lounge at 5037 Columbia Pike.
The person in charge told the inspector that the carcass was for a family friend and not intended for use of sale in the restaurant, according to the report.

"There was no other meat, food or any other product in the walk-in refrigerator," the inspector wrote. "The end consumer/family friend for the private event arrived at the establishment and confirmed that he ordered the meat directly from a farm and paid them. He stated that all the meat will be fully cooked; nothing will be served raw- and undercooked. The Health Department explained all the risks involved to the end consumer."
