LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA—The county has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), Loudoun officials announced Wednesday, July 3. According to a release, the citation is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Loudoun received the award for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for Fiscal Year 2018, which was judged to have met the high standards of the awards program. The report was cited for demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the county's financial story. This marks Loudoun County's 31st such award, and the 28th consecutive year it has received the honor.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 20,000 government finance professionals in the United States and Canada. More information about the Loudoun County CAFR, including a link to the most recent report for Fiscal Year 2018, can be found here.
