STERLING, VA—A female passenger was killed Thursday night, July 4, in a single-vehicle crash on Randolph Drive near Prentice Drive, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The driver, Cameron T. Prince, 30, of Ashburn, was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Around 11:30 p.m., according to police, the vehicle was headed north on Randolph Drive toward Prentice Drive when it "failed to negotiate a curve," crossed into the southbound and then ran off the road. It became airborne and crashed into a tree. Police say speed was a factor.

The passenger, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to an area hospital and died of her injuries. The road was closed for more than six hours while the LCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated in consultation with the Loudoun Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Prince is being held without bond.
