Star 4th Grader From Ashburn Helps Keep His Neighborhood Clean
William, a fourth grader from Ashburn, is being recognized as a star student for his commitment to keeping his neighborhood clean.

ASHBURN, VA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Michele Woonacott who nominated William, fourth grade of Ashburn. Michele has been around the world with William, but she has been impressed by the care he shows to his neighborhood.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
A citizen of the world, William was born in Virginia and has grown up in the Dominican Republic, Australia, and Belgium, and has learned Spanish and French. He returned to Virginia in 2021 at age 8, attending a U.S. school for the first time. He has an outgoing personality and made friends quickly at his new school. William is a star student because not only does he excel in math, reading, and social studies, but he cares about the environment and his community. He enjoys taking long walks and keeping his neighborhood clean by picking up trash along the way. He also makes an effort to try lots of new activities, like fishing, ice skating, competitive swimming, baseball, basketball, indoor skydiving, and more.
