National Night Out, David Kitchen Band, Krav Maga Workshop

Five things to look forward to in Burke this week.

It's Monday again, but don't fret. The weekend will be here again soon enough. Here's five things happening in the Annandale-area this week.

  1. Get ready to mingle with your neighborsNational Night Out is Tuesday. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, the annual event encourages local police and fire departments to engage with residents in their community in an effort to take a stand against violence and crime. Burke Patch will have a full list of Burke-area neighborhood events on the site Monday morning. 
  2. Think You Can Dance (or Skateboard)? Wakefield Park will be overrun with skateboarders and urban dancers on Saturday for the second annual "Illest Ingredients" event. Admission to the family-friendly event is $10.
  3. The David Kitchen Band will perform at Royal Lake Park on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Not sure if Kitchen's music is for you? You can check out some of his music streaming live on the band's website.
  4. Don't forget: the Burke Centre Library is currently undergoing renovations, so it may be a little noisy if you visit the library this week.
  5. The Pohick Regional Library is hosting a Krav Maga workshop for teens on Thursday at 7 p.m. Registration is currently open online.
