MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2021-09190174, N. Pershing Drive at N. Thomas Street. At approximately 9:37 p.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who had sustained stab wounds and began rendering aid until the arrival of medics. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and, refused to provide information to police pertaining to the incident. During the course of the investigation, officers made contact with a witness who stated that he was driving in the area when he noticed three individuals arguing and pushing each other. The witness called out to the group and observed Suspect One and Suspect Two push the victim up against a parked vehicle. Suspect Two then brandished a knife and stabbed the victim. The two suspects then fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. A search of the area for the suspects concluded with negative results. Suspect One is described as a short Hispanic male with a buzz cut, wearing a light colored tank top and blue pants. Suspect Two is described as a short Hispanic male, approximately 5’3”, wearing a dark colored hat with a goatee, baggy pants and carrying a backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2021-09170065, 3000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:14 a.m. on September 17, police responded to the location to assist the Department of Human Services. While on scene, officers observed the subject discard a loaded handgun into a trash receptacle. The firearm was recovered and the subject was taken into custody without incident. While being placed inside the transport vehicle and during transport to booking, the subject twice spit on the officer. Roy Simmons, 56, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm and Assault and Battery on Police (x2).
GRAND LARCENY (SIGNIFICANT) (LATE), 2021-09180055, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 5:50 a.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 4:07 a.m., the unknown suspect approached the business and attempted to gain entry. The suspect then forced entry and stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise and fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a White male, approximately 6’0” with a skinny build, wearing a black jacket, black pants, black gloves, and a white and red mask. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (LATE), 2021-09180058, 1500 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 4:29 a.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed the front door to the business partially opened and canvassed the area with negative results. The investigation revealed that at approximately 3:57 a.m., the unknown suspect approached the business, forced entry inside and stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a blue hoodie, blue athletic pants and blue tennis shoes. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2021-09180205, 500 block of N. Piedmont Street. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the report of a late burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 12:49 a.m., the unknown suspect forced entry into the residence and damaged a window. No property was reported stolen. The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion wearing a dark colored hoodie, distressed jean shorts and white sneakers. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2021-09180236, 4600 block of 40th Street N. At approximately 10:00 p.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the report of an attempted breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victims returned home and observed a glass window to the residence shattered but intact. No property was reported stolen and there were no signs of entry into the residence. There is no suspect(s) description. The investigation is ongoing.
PEEPING, 2021-09170016, 1300 block of N. Pierce Street. At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 17, police were dispatched to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined that the witness observed the known suspect looking into the victim’s window with a cellphone in his hands. Arrest warrants were obtained and the suspect was taken into custody later in the day. Darrin Roberson, 36, of Arlington VA was arrested and charged with Peeping and Unlawful creation of image of another.
