Police: Man, 48, Charged in Attempted Stabbing

A 48-year-old man has been charged with attempting to stab a person at a home in the 800 block of South Frederick Street this week.

The incident occurred at 2:21 p.m. Sunday, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Police said that Martir Alvarez-Yanez, of Riverdale, Md., tried to stab another person. He and the victim both knew each other, said police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck.

Alvarez-Yanez was charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond. The age and gender of the victim was not immediately available.
