Flash Flood Watch Begins Late Wednesday

Heavy rainfall and flash flooding are possible across the Washington, D.C., metro region beginning overnight late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. A flash flood watch has been issued across the area from 2 a.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Beginning late Tuesday, clouds will increase. Rain is expected to begin Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service, becoming heavier Wednesday night and continue throughout Thursday. >>> Read more.

The Worst Commute in Virginia? It's Not Even Close

Northern Virginia and D.C. metro drivers face some of the toughest commutes in the country, according to data released in a new U.S. Census survey.

The survey data on the average travel time to work found Virginia commuters are spending 28.2 minutes on the trip, up from 27.5 minutes five years ago. Nationally, Virginia ranked eighth on a list of longest commutes — identical to last year. >>> Read more.
