City officials spoke out against recent concerns of violence in Alexandria and encouraged the community to share information.

"Like many of you, I am deeply concerned, shocked, frustrated by the violence that is impacting our city and impacting our entire region," said Mayor Justin Wilson in a video message. "We will end this cycle of violence in our community but only with your support."

In a video message, the police chief added, "We are outraged at the senseless violence that has taken place in our city. My family and I have lived here for over 30 years, and we've never seen it to this level."

City Manager Jim Parajon said city partners are working with the city but encouraged residents to "speak up" when they see criminal activity.

"We are a wonderful, safe community but we have experienced a spike in gun-related crime incidents. That's unacceptable and changes our quality of life in a significant way," said Parajon.
