3 Alexandria Schools Nominated For Cappies, Tony's Of DC Area High School Theater
Alexandria City High, Bishop Ireton and St. Stephen's and St. Agnes were nominated for prestigious DC area theater awards.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Three Alexandria high schools delighted their audiences — and critics — with their latest musical productions, earning them nominations from the Tony Award-like Cappies of the National Capital Area.
Alexandria City High School's "Sister Act" gained five nominations: Matias Chase, Owen Maccubbin, Ilona Boehm O'Connor and Elijah Solomon for Sound; Abigail Gerstein for Student Directing in the Creativity category; Nuns for Ensemble in a Musical; Maria McLemore for Featured Actor in a Female Role in a Musical; and Naeem Scott for Supporting Actor in a Male Role in a Musical.
Bishop Ireton High School's "The Music Man" earned seven nominations: Lauren Allen, Annie Nealon, Isaac Nienaber and Elizabeth D'Souza for Marketing and Publicity; Michelle Dorman, Claire Gibbons, and the Bishop Ireton Costume Team in the Costumes category; Maren Baisley, Elizabeth D'Souza, Rachael Pulice and Gabriela Ramirez in the Choreography category; Elina Viana for Vocalist in a Female Role; Aidan McNerney for Vocalist in a Male Role; Isabelle Phillips for Comic Actor in a Female Role in a Musical; and Aidan Furey for Lead Actor in a Male Role in a Musical.

St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School earned a nomination for its "Mamma Mia!" Pit Orchestra in the Orchestra category.

All three high schools performed the musicals during the spring season.
Winners of the Cappies awards will be announced at the Cappies Gala on June 12 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in DC.
