FBI Releases New Photo, Detail in Alexandria Bank Robbery

Police are investigating a bank robbery that took place Monday morning at Potomac Yard Shopping Center in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (UPDATE Tuesday 10:40 a.m.): The FBI released a new surveillance photo (above) and gave a new clue Tuesday in their investigation of the robbery of Navy Federal Credit Union Monday in Alexandria.

The FBI disclosed Tuesday that the suspect was driving a small gray SUV when he made his escape.

Alexandria Police also released surveillance photos of the suspect in the Monday morning bank robbery in the City. The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the robbery of the Navy Federal Credit Union, at 3725 Jefferson Davis Highway, at Potomac Yard Shopping Center.

On Monday at 9:17 a.m., a man entered the bank and passed the teller a note demanding money, police said. The teller complied and the suspect fled in a vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police. No one was injured during the robbery.

Police say the suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6’1” to 6’3” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, a black hat, and dark aviator-style sunglasses.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect.
