See Del Ray Menus For Upcoming Alexandria Winter Restaurant Week

Alexandria Restaurant Week is one week away, and various restaurants in the Del Ray neighborhood will have special menus.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Restaurant Week will arrive on Jan. 19 to delight diners' taste buds at restaurants around the city, including in the Del Ray neighborhood.

Numerous Del Ray restaurants are participating in Alexandria Restaurant Week, which runs from Jan. 19 to 28. Participating restaurants will offer special prix fixe dinner for one menus for $30, $40 or $50. Aside from Del Ray, restaurants come from Old Town, Carlyle, Eisenhower, the West End and south of the city.

Visit Alexandria hosts the restaurant twice a year — in January and August — to promote the city as a culinary destination. Restaurants represent a diverse collection of cuisines, from French, Irish, Italian and Mexican to Indian, Thai, Creole and American.

Here are the participating restaurants in and around Del Ray and a preview of their menus.

Cheesetique: A three-course menu for $40 starts with a glass of sparkling prosecco, mocktail or another beverage of choice and a Caesar salad or creamy tomato soup. Entrée options include black truffle gnocchi, chicken pot pie, shrimp and grits, lasagna and braised pork shoulder. Finish it off with dessert choices of chocolate mousse or the original or pumpkin cheesecake.

Del Ray Cafe: This French cafe will serve two courses with a choice of appetizer or dessert with a main course for $40. A three-course option is also available for $50. Appetizer options include the soup of the day, DRC salad, Burgundy snails, pate de campagne or foie gras on brioche. Main course options are Icelandic loin of cod, seafood medley of calamari, mussels, baby shrimp and chopped clams, coq al vin, tagliarini pasta, and black Angus hanger steak. Dessert options are five choquettes, three sorbets and classic crème brulee.

Evening Star Cafe: This three-course menu for $40 starts with a choice of marinated olives, smoked pimento cheese, smoked tomato soup, grilled finger sweet potatoes, ricotta and pumpkin ravioli, roasted heirloom beets, crispy brussel sprouts, fried green tomatoes, smoked wings, ESC wedge or winter green salad. Main course options are spaghetti and meatballs, braised lamb shoulder, tonnarelli alla chitara, Scottish salmon, citrus brined pork chop, half roasted chicken, smash burger and spicy chicken sandwich. Dessert options are carrot cake, pumpkin cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake.

Grape and Bean Rosemont: Three courses for $30 include citrus salad, bolognese pasta and pie a la mode.

Junction Bakery and Bistro: Two courses and a cookie are served for $30 per person. Small plate options include pear and bleu cheese salad and beet salad. Large plate options are short rib grilled cheese and butternut squash penne. A Valrhona chocolate chip cookie completes the meal.

Lena's Wood-Fired Pizza and Tap: This $30 per person menu provides a first course with Caesar salad, mixed green salad or oven roasted beet salad. The second course is a 10-inch wood-fired pizza and the third course is two mini cannoli.

Market2Market/St. Elmo's Coffee Pub: A $30 takeout meal deal comes with a 32oz cup of turkey chili and mini cornbread loaf, two mini cannoli and four pack of local lagers like Hardywood Richmond Lager, Port City Lager, Solace Crazy Pils or Vasen Rada Pils.

Northside 10: A three-course menu is offered for $40, starting with an appetizer choice of braised short rib ravioli, risotto fritters or grilled oysters. The entrée choices are mustard barbecued salmon, half rack of ribs, steak and fries, or farmers market risotto. For dessert, try a chocolate fudge brownie or beignets with warm butterscotch.

Pork Barrel BBQ: This BBQ for two menu priced at $30 comes with a beer can whole smoked chicken, choice of three sides, two cornbread and bourbon bread pudding.

Royal Nepal: Get a taste of Nepal with this menu for $40 per person. Start with the choice of kwati ko soup/royal crunch salad, chicken chili, sukuti sadheko, chrispy spinach or kale, bara, aloo sadheko, spicy chana chatpat, or momos. Main courses include jhir salmon, royal chicken curry, ghi'u chicken/ghi'u paneer, spicy lamb curry, wild boar curry, aloo cauliflower, or quinoa ball. Dessert options include rice pudding, sikarni, and sweet wine.

RT's Restaurant: This Creole restaurant will serve a three-course meal for $30. Start with a mixed green salad or chicken andouille gumbo. Entrée choices are shrimp Mardi Gras, southern fried catfish, all lump 5 oz crab cake, and pecan crusted chicken. For dessert, choose between Creole bread pudding and chocolate mousse.

Spice Kraft Indian Bistro: This Indian restaurant will offer a $30 menu. Appetizer options include samosa veg, vegetable Manchurian, chicken sheek kebab and butter chicken nacho chaat. All diners receive channa masala, followed by entree choices of paneer jalfreeze, jackfruit kofta curry, chicken tikka masala, hariyali salmon, and saffron lamb korma. For dessert, choose between the gulab jamun with nuts or enchanted garden halwa. Dinner is served with naan or garlic naan and rice.

Zuki Moon: This Filipino and Japanese-inspired eatery will serve a menu for $30 per person. Start with a hamache fish tartare, then a baked salmon roll.
