Alexandria's Fifth Homicide Of 2023 Leads To Arrest

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A July homicide in Alexandria has led to an arrest, according to Alexandria Police.

The arrest and charges relate to the July 24 fatal shooting in the 800 block of W. Glebe Road in the Arlandria neighborhood. Rae’Qwan McClinnahan, 26, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a murder. He is being held without bond.

The fatal shooting was Alexandria's fifth homicide in 2023. After the shooting around 11:24 p.m. on July 24, police found the victim on the scene, who was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. He was identified as Eric Holmes Jr., 29.
