Burned Lunch Briefly Shuts Down Mount Vernon Avenue
Fire crews respond to incident in space above the Exotic Planterium and Card and Comic Collectorama.
The 2000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue was briefly blocked off late Thursday morning after a bevy of fire trucks responded to an incident involving burned food in the space above the Exotic Planterium and Card and Comic Collectorama.
An Alexandria Fire Department spokesperson said it was just a case of someone burning their lunch.
There were no injuries in the incident and the building received no damage.

Crews from the Alexandria Fire Department and Arlington County Fire Department responded to the call, which came in shortly after 11 a.m.
The building containing the Exotic Planterium and Card and Comic Collectorama, located at 2008 Mount Vernon Ave., was purchased by the Neighborhood Restaurant in 2011.

Owner Dennis Webb has operated the Collectorama since 1974, making it one of the oldest businesses on Mount Vernon Avenue.
