City Releases 2013 Spring Clean-Up Schedule

Curbside collection of unwanted bulky trash and metal items coming in April.

Alexandria residents who receive city refuse collection are eligible to receive a spring cleanup pickup in April.

Residents are encouraged to clear out household clutter and place unwanted bulky trash and metal items at the curb on their neighborhood collection date. The city is divided into four collection zones, and each zone is assigned a specific Saturday.

In the Del Ray and Arlandria area, residents living east of Mount Vernon Avenue are zoned in Area 1 and can place their unwanted items on the curb for pickup April 6. Residents west of Mount Vernon Avenue are zoned to Area 2 and can place their items on the curb April 13. Residents living south of Braddock Road and north of Duke Street are zoned in Area 3 and their items will be picked up April 20.

If your street is a boundary line, the middle of the road is considerd the divider. Your collection area will be designated by the date of the area closest to your side of the street.

Metals should be separated from other collection items and will be picked up during a separate collection. 

Also, orders can now be placed for mulch delivery in April and May. Delivery dates and times are limited, and appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis.
