ALEXANDRIA, VA — Agenda Alexandria, an organization that holds panel discussions on key topics affecting the city, will focus on climate change for its September program.

The program is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lyceum, 201 S Washington St., Alexandria, VA. There is a $10 admission fee for non-members of Agenda Alexandria.

The "Hot, Wet, and Wild! What can Alexandrians do about Climate Change?" program will be moderated by Agenda Alexandria board member Mary Harris. Agenda Alexandria said the discussion comes with the context of Alexandria's hot weather posing a risk to people and nature, the rising Potomac River threatening waterfront homes and parks, and more frequent flooding and damaging storms. The city has an Energy and Climate Change Action Plan to tackle climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and 80 percent by 2050. The plan also includes strategies to minimize increasing extreme heat and flooding risks.

That context will lead to a discussion on Alexandria's solutions to climate change. Recordings of Agenda Alexandria programs are typically available after the events.
