Crash Causes Downed Traffic Signal On Route 1 In Alexandria
A traffic signal on Richmond Highway was taken down by a single-vehicle crash early Monday, according to Alexandria Police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A single-vehicle crash caused a traffic signal to go down on Richmond Highway in Alexandria early Monday. As of 5 p.m. Monday, the traffic signal has been repaired.
The crash happened in the 3400 block of Richmond Highway, which is at the East Reed intersection with traffic signals. There were no injuries in the crash, and the driver remained on scene.
Southbound Richmond Highway had been closed as debris was cleared from the crash. The southbound direction has reopened, but the intersection temporarily has stop signs until the traffic signal is functioning again.

Alexandria's Transportation and Environmental Services said crews were on scene to make repairs and direct traffic. Drivers are urged to use caution at the Richmond Highway and East Reed Avenue.
