Next Coffee With A Cop Event Planned In Del Ray With Police, Sheriff's Office

The Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Sheriff's Office will participate in a Coffee with a Cop event in Del Ray.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Coffee with a Cop, a chance for the community to have conversations with law enforcement, will return to Del Ray in January.

The event will happen from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Swing's Coffee, 501 E. Monroe Avenue, Alexandria, VA. All are invited to the event for coffee and conversations with members of the Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Sheriff's Office.

At the Coffee with a Cop events, community members are encouraged to discuss community issues or ask questions. The Alexandria Police Department is responsible for general law enforcement duties in the City of Alexandria, while the Alexandria Sheriff's Office oversees the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center, maintains security in the Alexandria Courthouse, serves court legal documents, executes court orders and performs other law enforcement duties.

Coffee with a Cop is part of a nationwide program to build connections between law enforcement and the community. It started in 2011 in Hawthorne, Calif. and expanded to all 50 U.S. states and 33 countries. While National Coffee with a Cop Day is held the first Wednesday of October, various events are held throughout the year in Alexandria and other locations.
