Tree Trimmer Dies By Electrocution In Del Ray Neighborhood

Alexandria Police are investigating the death of a worker who was electrocuted by a power line.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A tree trimmer died after en electrocution in the Del Ray neighborhood Saturday, according to Alexandria Police.

Police and fire had responded around 10:09 a.m. Saturday to the unit block of West Mount Ida Avenue. First responders found an arborist who was unresponsive. Police believe a branch of the tree he was trimming made contact with a live power wire.

The worker was pronounced dead at the scene. Next-of-kin are being notified before police release the worker's identity.
